Over the last decade, high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) has become the standard platform for impurity profiling and identification. Recent instruments are capable of separating mass fragments at the fourth or fifth decimal place (exact mass) where previous instrumentation was limited to single-digit mass units. The capacity to distinguish between compounds with the same nominal mass led to a significant improvement in molecular formula determination and structural elucidation. These techniques are critical for impurity profiling and consequently highly relevant in the selection of the best synthetic route towards the API.
In this webinar we intend to share information regarding state-of-the-art instrumentation and methodologies and present specific case studies in which HRMS was key to understand the chemical process.
