Up to 90% of drugs in the pharmaceutical pipeline present low aqueous solubility. Amorphous Solid Dispersions have emerged as one of the preferred platforms for addressing the solubility challenge. Of the different techniques for obtaining amorphous dispersions, spray drying presents a number of advantages for early stage and commercial manufacturing, such as the continuous aspect of spray drying, the possibility to engineer particle properties and simple scale-up from a few grams to several metric tons.
This webinar will explore the connection between spray drying and downstream processing. Following an introduction to amorphous solid dispersions and spray drying, the link between drying conditions, material properties and impact on downstream process performance and requirements will be explored and discussed based on datasets and two distinct case-studies.
Key Learning objectives
- Specific aspects of formulating amorphous solid dispersions into oral dosage forms
- Impact of spray dried dispersions properties in downstream processing
- Optimization strategies for downstream processing of amorphous solid dispersions
